Here are some tips on how you can navigate on your reMarkable. Use touch gestures to navigate, edit the files and folders on your paper tablet, work with typed text and more.
With the Type Folio you can also use keyboard shortcuts to navigate My files, page overview, documents, and folders.
Use the arrow keys to navigate, select any document or folder by pressing the spacebar, and open it with the enter key. Press alt + W or ctrl + W to close a document or go back when you’re in a folder.
Sidebar menu
In the sidebar menu you will find your files, device settings and trash, as well as different options to filter your files, providing a detailed overview of your content.
My files is your paper tablet’s home screen. You can return to this screen by opening the sidebar menu in the upper-left corner of the display and tapping My files.
Notebooks, PDFs and Ebooks will display all files of that type. Files will always appear in the filtered view, even if you move your files into folders.
Favorites shows all your favorited files.
Tags shows keywords you’ve attached to your notes, documents, and folders. Learn how to use tags.
Integrations shows your connected cloud storage services.
Trash contains your deleted files until permanently deleted or restored

Sorting and viewing your files
You can sort your files by name, file size, page count, last opened, or last modified. Change how your files are sorted by tapping Sort by in the upper-right corner of My files or any folder.
Sort files in ascending or descending order by tapping Sort by, and then the icon next to your preferred option.
You can view your content in grid view or as a list.
Scroll up and down while viewing files by swiping or using keyboard shortcuts on Type Folio.
Search
Use search to find specific folders, notebooks, PDFs, or ebooks on your reMarkable. You can also search within PDFs and ebooks, and in typed text you’ve written yourself.
Drawer
Our so-called drawer lets you access your recent and favorite files. It keeps your most-used documents and notebooks close to hand, saving you time navigating between different notebooks and files on your reMarkable.
How it works
Swipe down with two fingers from the top of the display to open the drawer.
Tap Recent or Favorites, and swipe left to scroll through your documents.
Tap a file to open it.
You can also use keyboard shortcuts on Type Folio to open the drawer and browse files. Depending on your chosen style of key combinations, press and hold either ctrl or alt, then press the Tab key or arrow keys to navigate between files. Release ctrl or alt to open the file.
Zoom and orientation
Change orientation
When reading, writing or sketching, you can change the screen orientation by tapping the portrait/landscape icon. Tapping this button rotates the contents of notebooks and documents making it easier to switch between a PowerPoint presentation and PDF.
Changing the screen orientation in a file:
Open a file.
Tap the Document settings icon in the toolbar.
Tap the portrait/landscape icon to change the screen orientation.

How to zoom in and out
Pinch with two fingers to zoom in on the part of the page you want to see. Pinch out to zoom out.
When zoomed in, you’ll see an icon appear at the top of the display. This is a zoom indicator that shows your current level of magnification to make zooming in and out more precise. You can tap the zoom indicator to automatically reset to the default view at any time.
Once you’ve zoomed in, you can move around the magnified area by using two fingers. Use the Selection tool (copy and paste) while zoomed in for making precise changes.
Adjust view
Use this tool to resize PDFs for an improved reading experience. When resizing a PDF, all the pages in that document will be set to the same level of zoom.
Adjust view is only available for PDFs.

Using Adjust view in a PDF:
Open the PDF you'd like to adjust.
Tap Document settings ( image.png ) in the toolbar.
Tap Adjust view.
Tap Fit to width, Fit to height, or Fit to custom view to set a custom level of zoom, depending on your preference for reading documents.
When using Fit to custom view, pinch to zoom and pan with two fingers to move the page inside a fixed rectangle representing the display to remove the margins, then tap Set.
Quick browse
Quick browse is a handy scrollbar that lets you flip through page previews within a notebook or document to find old notes or a favorite passage in a much-loved ebook. This feature also allows you to navigate seamlessly within a document or check something on a previous page without needing to leave the one you’re currently working on (if you don’t want to.)
How it works
Swipe up from the bottom of any document to reveal the quick browse scrollbar
Drag the cursor left or right to browse through pages quickly and find what you’re looking for
Lift your finger off the cursor to switch to the page in the preview window
When scrolling, a black dot appears to show you where you started – tap this to go back to your original page without losing your place
You can still use Page overview to easily move, duplicate, or delete pages
Trash
Long-pressing an item allows you to select ‘Move to trash’. (Note: At this point in time it isn’t possible to send individual pages within documents to the trash.)
The trash is found in the lower sidebar menu.
Once inside the trash, long-pressing files or folders will give you the option to either restore or delete permanently. It’s also possible to tap ‘Empty Trash’ in the top right corner to permanently delete everything currently in the trash.
Settings
Access your reMarkable’s settings by tapping Menu in the upper-left corner, then Settings. You’ll find the following settings:
General settings Log in to your account, find subscription details, choose your language preferences, update to the latest software version, and more.
Wi-Fi settings Find available networks and connect your reMarkable to the internet.
Battery settings Display the battery percentage and enable auto sleep and standby mode.
Storage settings Find an overview of how much free space is left on your device and check if your reMarkable is syncing properly.
Security settings Set a passcode, display your personal information on the sleep screen, and turn light sleep on or off.
Accessibility settings Switch between right- and left-handed mode, and change the font size on your device.
