You can transfer files between reMarkable paper tablets, and even access the same files on different devices if you have a Connect subscription

If you’re setting up a new paper tablet, follow the instructions on my.remarkable.com to pair your paper tablet with a reMarkable account. This will make sure that all your files are safely synced to your paper tablet.

Transferring files from one paper tablet to another
  1. Connect the paper tablet you want to transfer files from to the internet.
  2. Update your paper tablet to the latest software version. To get the latest version, tap the menu in the upper-left corner, then Settings > Version > Check for updates.
  3. Make sure that your files are synced to your reMarkable account. To check this, open the mobile app or desktop app and see if the files there match those on your paper tablet. If you don’t have any apps installed, you can also see your files at https://my.remarkable.com/myfiles.
  4. If this is your first time using your new paper tablet, follow the setup process to pair it with your reMarkable account and sync your files.

A Connect subscription ensures that all of your files remain synced between your devices and the cloud.

Note: If you already set up your new paper tablet but didn’t pair it with your reMarkable account, tap the menu in the upper-left corner, then Settings. Tap Pair with the reMarkable cloud and follow the instructions to sync your files to your new paper tablet.

If you are no longer going to use your existing reMarkable Paper Tablet, we recommend that you first update your device and perform a factory reset. Remember to update your paper tablet to the latest version before performing the factory reset, to make sure all your files are properly synced to the cloud.

Pairing multiple paper tablets with one account

You can pair up to five paper tablets with one reMarkable account and access the same files across the different devices. Your files will automatically be synced to a new paper tablet when you pair it with your account. Note that without a Connect subscription, inactive files will not sync across devices, which can cause discrepancies in your library on the different devices.

Transferring files without a reMarkable Account

If you do not have a reMarkable account, you can still transfer files using a USB cable. You can read more about how to do this in our article on Importing and Exporting Files.
