You'll need to create a reMarkable account and then activate Connect to access your 100-day free trial. You can use the activation link in either your order confirmation email or the reminder email (if this was a gift) to do this before setting up your new device.

Once you’ve created an account and verified your email address, when your paper tablet arrives, simply log into my.remarkable.com and then click Pair your device.
How to sign up if you received your reMarkable as a gift or bought it at a store
If you bought a reMarkable with Connect for someone else, then please forward the activation link we sent in your order confirmation email to the person receiving the gift.
If you received reMarkable as a gift, make sure that you have the activation link from the order confirmation to access the 100-day free Connect trial, which starts on delivery. If you received your reMarkable as a gift, bought it at a store or secondhand without Connect, you can subscribe and access Connect features by visiting my.remarkable.com.

The ‘Access your 100-day free trial’ button in my order confirmation email doesn’t work
If clicking the ‘Access…’ button in your order confirmation email doesn’t open a web link, scroll to the bottom of the email and copy the activation link there. Paste the link into the address bar of your browser and click enter. You’ll then be able to activate your account.
