Battery issues
In this article you'll find information about what to do if your reMarkable is having trouble charging, or if the battery indicator isn't working properly.
Battery won't charge or charges too slowly
If you’re having problems with charging, try restarting the device, which will reset the battery.
Here's how:
- Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds. You'll then get the option to turn off the device. Tap Turn off.
- Press the power button again for about two seconds to turn it back on.
- Try charging your device again.
You can also try charging your device for at least four hours for a full charge.
Still having issues charging?
If you're still having trouble charging your device, try the following:
- Try charging your device using different electrical outlets, such as the USB port on a computer or a wall socket
- Check that the USB-C cable is working correctly. You can test this by connecting the cable to other compatible devices, to see if they charge normally.
- If your cable won’t charge other devices, try charging your reMarkable with a different USB cable. Use a USB cable connected to a wall outlet (max 5 volt), if possible.
- Charging your device for at least four hours, as this should completely fill the battery
Inaccurate battery indicator
If the battery indicator on your device seems inaccurate, then try using your paper tablet until the battery is completely drained. Then fully charge the device by connecting it to a computer or wall socket for about four hours. Repeating this process several times should hellp calibrate the battery indicator and give you a better estimate of the state of charge.
