Won't charge or charges slowly
If you’re having problems with your battery, we would advise you to perform a hard shutdown of the device, which will reset the battery.
- To complete a hard shutdown of your reMarkable, please follow these steps:
Hold down the power button for around 15 seconds. Please note that you will not see a response on the screen, but this will force your reMarkable to shut down.
- Release the power button for a few seconds.
- Hold the power button down again for around 2 seconds to turn it back on.
- Now try charging your device again.
You can also try charging your device for at least 4 hours via a PC (if accessible)
Still having issues?
Have you tried charging via several outlets, for example using the USB port on a computer or a wall socket, and vice versa?
It’s also worth double-checking that the USB-C power cable is working correctly. You can test this on other compatible electronic devices if you have any, to see if they charge normally.
If the cable won’t charge another device, try charging your reMarkable with a different USB charger. Use a USB cable through a wall brick charger (max 5 volt) for the best results.
Keep the charger plugged in for at least 4 hours before use, as this will ensure a full charge.
To be sure that there’s an issue with your reMarkable, please thoroughly try the steps above. If these do not work, please contact support with a short video of the issue at hand.
The battery indicator on your reMarkable is not calibrated correctly
Typically, as you use the device more, it will ‘learn’ how you like to work, and then provide a more accurate battery percentage estimate based on your daily routine.
To help speed up this process, we advise using your paper tablet until the battery is drained completely, then charge it fully by plugging it in for about 4 hours or so. Repeat this process a few times, and the battery indicator will get smarter, giving you a more realistic estimate.
